Nomad speaker for the OP-1

Hey Operators !

I wonder if some of you are using nomad speakers with the OP-1, in order to make mini gigs (in the desert, the beach, amazon rainforest, on top of a mountain…) everywhere !

What kind of nomad speaker are you using ? There’s a big choice !

Thank you

They mentioned the UK minirigs portable speakers in another thread, very cool looking imo.
I’ll prob wait to pick up a 4.1 setup for when I grab a Keith McMillen K-Mix.

Oops, I have now learned what you meant by “nomad” systems. You can probably disregard the minirigs for that (I assume)

Thank you for your answer @picoVolt

What’s the size of these minirigs?

Yesterday I watched the Ultimate Ears boom, seems very nice !

I am not sure this is what you have in mind, but I like it…

Nice one @anr ! But a bit big, and seems to be power supplied

Do you know these http://www.ultimateears.com/en-us/boom ?

@quarantequatre The Boom is interesting being that it claims to be Life Proof…

Each minirigs looks slightly bigger than a fist/can shaped, so would pack easily in the bottom of a pack.

I trust that the minirigs will have great sound for busking/small parties, due to the engineers having a past in pro PA equipment. However, I don’t believe they are waterproof or anything. I don’t own any yet, so just speculating on sound quality. I’ve tried a few standard battery powered portable speakers before and they don’t seem to like direct input from instruments/uncompressed sources. (Not that they should)

I checked out Sonic Touch 25 on YouTube and it had a great little review at the end where they kind of showed its rough features / sound quality. I feel they couldn’t turn up too loud but it sounded better than I expected from such a small/battery powered unit.

@quarantequatre

Regarding iLoud, as reported in the review, it runs on batteries and can be charged with the adapter (included). Batteries last 10h (approx).
Size-wise is similar to an iPad, just thicker of course.

Thanks dude, I’m gonna look these stuff too !
Nobody has boom speakers ?

bose soundlink mini. great bass response, plenty loud too

i have the mini boom, but not the full size boom.
its really nice for listening to music, but the bass leaves something to be desired if u are making tunes on it.

Co-sign. Don’t buy a Jam Box, horrible bass. Bose is boss, my mom got one an Im jealous lol. Good job on making a better audio purchase than me mom!

The bose soundlink mini seems very nice, but the design is disgusting ! But I know that the audio is the first thing to consider (and the design come in 2nd place)…

@docshermsticks : Maybe the normal Boom has more bass ? :). Thx for your advice

@Virtual_Flannel : I didn’t know the Jam Box ^^ But I’m gonna avoid this thx !

I use a Cambridge Audio Minx Go and it rocks!

2 Tweeters, 2 Mids and a rear facing Bass. Up to 18 Hour battery life and also has USB power to charge a device.

3.5mm Aux in and Bluetooth.

I really like the Bose too. And if you pop for the sleeve they have for it, it’s not too ugly. One charge lasts quite awhile too.

I’ve been using the Boombotix REX. This thing really does sound amazing, people are usually surprised how good it sounds when i take it around. They have a new one called the Pro which “probably” sounds great, but since I havent heard it i cant vouch for it. I have compared it to the Bose and the Beats and a few other ones and its blew them out of the water.

The Roland Cube Street is pretty loud and takes 6 AAs that last about 16 hours(have plenty rechargeable AAs handy). Bass response is there, but not booming. You can hook up a 3.5mm input and 1/4" stereo input at the same time. Figured I’d get one for this purpose after seeing a few street performers using them. Actually got it as a bday gift.

The Mackie FreePlay looks as sexy as it wants to be. Hefty tag, tho.

Thank You everybody for your feedbacks, I’m still hesitating between boom and bose (as it’s nearly the same prices, I don’t wanna put more than 200bucks )

I’ve been tempted to try this one: http://www.amazon.com/SoundBot®-SB571-Hands-Free-Speakerphone-Rechargeable/dp/B00MITLPX2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

Not to sound cliché, but you get what you pay for, in my experience.

I love the Bose. I also think it’s right there w/ the OP-1, in terms of elegant design & build quality.

I agree, and for most things I wouldn’t go cheap, but for something that I will be busking outdoors with I figured it might be worth a shot without having to worry too much about it getting destroyed. The Bose SoundLink Mini is great though.
