I’ve had no issues with #246, it’s running flawlessly and also as a bonus works great with the hacked #246 using op1repacker.
As @Gilgamesh said, I also think they are holding the release to add some features on top, I hope so, nevertheless we now have a rock solid unofficial firmware at our disposal isn’t that cool?
TE has proven himself to still stand behind the original OP-1, that’s awesome and very reassuring for us owners!
I would if I may, consider getting #246 via TE support: With great respect to Gilgamesh (thanks for making the point and informing us all about this #246!!), but mailing TE is the best way to let them guys know how much concern we have about our good old OP1-OG, and feel the need of keeping it alive for such a “hudge” community.
Thanks guys, especially Gilgamesh for uploading!!! After quite a while I dug out the OG-1 again today, put #245 on it, and my ears almost fell off. Noise, crackle, scratching without end. Now I have luckily found this chat and made #246 on it. Thanks for keeping up with TE support and uploading. Otherwise it would have been over with the OG-1 and me for now.
I’m excited about #247, but not so much because #246 works really well for me.
Hey guys,
I can, too, confirm that Gilgamesh’s #246 works very well, without crackling. USB audio also works fine. I had no crashes so far. It also worked when customized via the repacker.
PS: when I downloaded it, it’s sha256 hash was c5315218f825f143b415ca554516541898abee843d3a236df0b54c04e1fb13a9.
It is legit. I hassled the crap out of TE support for a week or two and they sent it to me. I’m working on the theory they don’t want to make a fuss about it because there aren’t any new features. Presumably this fix would be in a later version along with a feature or two. If I was them I would just quietly replace #245 with #246 on the website and not even mention anything in the notes. Seems weird they’re still letting people install #245 that may mess up their recordings. Actually it just occurred I should ask them why. I will. Maybe they just forgot
I’ve checked and it is the same exact build as the one posted by @Gilgamesh.
My guess is that they probably where waiting for a scheduled public release or the head of development team for approval but decided to let us have it in advance to see if it was enough to stop our whining.
Worked like a charm I must say…
Kudos to TE dev team!
Awesome. I can now properly compare OG and Field for the YouTube video I’ve been intending to make, then sell my OG in good conscience. The clicking on external audio was a major pain for me and one reason I bought the Field - at the time I was new to the OG and didn’t know it hadn’t always been like that, since people talk of clicks.
Yeah totally. I think I’ve had mine about 9 years. Clicking to do with arbitrary looping has always been a problem but clicking on straight analog recording started with the USB audio update and ended when we hassled TE recently and got #246.
I took a break that coincided with the bit where I would’ve noticed the new clicking in a timely manner. Otherwise the hassling would’ve happened over a year ago
