i should say everyone updating to take a backup of your projects first, as is always good measure. lots of big changes to the underlying tape structure. ive got projects on my device from march 2025 and older without any issues but just to be safe i highly recommend a backup before updating.

Wow this is great news!

Official word is out

It’s truly amazing that TE keeps putting out these stellar updates to the Field.

And to think that over these last 15 years, I made myself into a perfect musician because of the lack of undo. Now that was all for nothing!!

Wow! Thank you TE!

does anyone know what all the MTP transfer stuff means? Does it mean that if you have clipped loops it imports them in chopped up sections just as the tape on the field was?

Maybe it means that it won’t export the whole 6 minutes (at normal speed)?

I don’t really know, though, just a guess. This is a deep update. I haven’t had a chance to get into it. I’m excited about the song position pointer stuff. I hope it works smoothly and I hope I can make time tomorrow to test this update.

I still seem to have issues with Bluetooth midi even after this update. The connection will work, but then almost immediately it just stops reacting to midi signals from my iPad. Can’t figure out why. It works fine over USB to the same iPad.

Anyone having issues with starting and stopping tape transport (externally) after the update? I use the UM-ONE cable to connect to octatrack. Had to downgrade in order for it to work again. Strangely- start transport does not work but if I start in on OP1F-- I can stop it from octatrack.

I’ve been trying out the new Song Position Pointer update and it is working perfectly with Logic on Macbook. I haven’t tried syncing with anything else yet, but this is great for me.

@tyrnnsrs

I tested this using AUM and its built-in keyboard output over bluetooth. All was well for a minute or so, the OP-1f received bluetooth, then the bluetooth connection was lost and the currently playing notes hung in the OP-1f. It’s a repeatable issue.

I can use the OP-1f to send bluetooth to AUM in the iPad and that works fine for hours.

I don’t know if the trouble lies with the iPad, AUM, or the OP-1f. I am always sending bluetooth from the OP-1f, this is the first time I’ve done the opposite. Was there ever an OP-1f OS that worked well in both directions, to and from the iPad, using bluetooth?

New update? Nice. If I didn’t open the forum, I probably wouldn’t learn about it for a very long time. Maybe this will get me to producing more music. I haven’t done much with my music devices lately, unfortunately.

I really like the new feature that allows us to measure a loop in free mode and set the tempo. I often record something free-hand and then struggle to synchronize other things to it.

Also, need to try if using an external MIDI keyboard finally works. It seems it will now.

Hi, i’ve updated to 1.7, MTP failed, OP1 is connected, audio via USB is ok, when switch to MTP, Windows10 doesn’t recognize OP1 anymore. When shutoff the OP1, i can see OP1 drive, in peripherals and printers panel, but i don’t see it in browser.

Thanks for update; gonna try midi features

Edit : Transfer samples with disk seems to work; but i can’t find sample..

I’ve also noticed in Disk mode that some samples where missing, but I didn’t have time to figure out if I was able to reproduce (Disk mode takes sooooo long to connect). I’ll give it a look again, but the difficulty would be to reproduce the issue 100% of the time so that a ticket can be opened at TE :frowning: Won’t be easy for this one.

ive tried connecting (midi and/or audio) via usb c to an mpc sample, android device, and ableton move

the same issue occurs—it briefly connects then disconnects seconds later

so usb c currently only works for charging the op1f (and connecting to my laptop, so i suspect the issue is power delivery related)

i bought and tried the official te usbc cable to no avail

is anyone else facing this issue

quite a few of these bugs are known and being actively worked on and addressed in a subsequent fw update. hopefully soon!

I guess it could be useful to have a view somewhere on the bug reports currently in the pipe. I know that it’s not that easy for a company to admit bugs, but it could help users to know if they need to report something or if it’s still in the todo list. Moreover, some companies use to do this and ppl can reply and add comments to make the bug report more usable for developpers.

For example: I guess the Disk vs MTP issue with files not showing is probably already reported. If not I would do it, but to make a clean bug report it would require a reset factory to create a way to reproduce 100% of the time. And of course, I would prefer not to reset my op1f… but noway to know if it’s useful or not to report this bug. My 2 cents.
