OP-1 field feature requests

When you record to the album (record player) you can put the masterfx on the input. When done. Record it to tape.

Good workaround but unnecessary

Add the letter notation near the value of DETUNE NOTES, very useful for understanding on the fly what note you are altering to on the keyboard

I think it’s time for the « Workflow » update everyone is waiting for!…

that’s already possible using the vocoder!

Just turn up the mix on the vocoder to let the dry signal through…
now add whichever effect you like

Again good workaround but unnecessary for a 2K sampler. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m also assuming this effect is still applied globally, meaning it effects not just the dry signal but all the other audio as well going to the master. Here’s my use case: I’ve recorded a percussion track, a kick and snare track and a bass track or some chords. Now I want to add a lead guitar with a delay, BUT I don’t want to hear delay on the other three tracks I’ve already recorded, I just want to hear it on the one track to hear how it sits in the mix.

Also - being able to monitor the 3.5mm AND USB-C inputs simultaneously. One of the reasons I got the OP-1F was to have a portable recording solution, and it would be really cool if you could use the OP-1F as your speaker, without having to route audio through a mixer (TX-6) and into a speaker. I use the Apogee Jam-X to get my guitar signal into the OP-1F and it would be super cool if I could also monitor my PO-33 through the 3.5mm input simultaneously.

The vocoder takes the input signal (whatever you select) and applies whatever parameters you select to the signal before recording to tape. So, you can set the synth parameters (1) to 100% dry and add any effect into the effect slot (3), and even add LFO (4) to mess with the FX settings. This then records to tape with all of that applied. Just that track, not the others.

As a guitarist/songwriter, I have to say this one would be a game changer. For real.
Being able to record, for instance, through an USB Mic AND the audio-in would be pretty cool.
Add mono-capabilities to this scenario and/or multitrack possibilities, and now, we’re talking about some pro features I would love to have!

Dope, thanks for confirming that. Hope I can remember that next time I’m under the influence making a track

Yup. Glad I’m not the only one thinking that!

Another one. Maybe not the sexiest one, but I’d argue a somewhat critical one : a FieldKit App for iPad.
It would bring back the Field portable workflow center stage.

Multi-track audio out over USB.

I’ve read this whole thread. It seems like many requests have been implemented by TE. These are my wishes and most have been wished for already-

master settings saved per tape project
to be able to save sequencer snapshots
a fade out, per sample, for the drum sampler
the lfos to modulate sequencer parameters
I’d like the ability to auto pan a synth. Currently I can pan a synth using Random,
Velocity, or Element (Env, SUM, Mic, G) but no cyclical panning LFO. I’d like the
Value LFO to address panning, for instance.
two lfos at a time
a step modulator
a stereo delay that can be synced to tempo

The first 4 are the features I hope for the most. If there are currently ways to achieve any of the above, please let me know!

Edited for clarity.

After using Field for over a year, here is my updated list:

  1. Quick bounce feature using shift + paste. I think most users would benefit from this.

  2. Mod matrix or (like opsr said) two LFOs, or at least a separate mapping for velocity that doesn’t take up main LFO. Filed would be way, way more expressive if users could mod several parameters at a time. If Microfreak can have a full and recursive mod matrix, surely Field can somehow change more than one param at a time?

  3. “Key value” LFO. Change a parameter based on which key (within all the octaves) you’re currently pressing. This would open up entirely new sonic possibilities, especially if the formula behind it would be good enough to sync arbitrary parameters to pitch.

  4. Probabilistic, fractional or tied notes in Pattern sequencer. This could be activated by pressing encoders. I mean, why not? It’s the most intuitive and easy to edit sequencer, but it’s a tad too repetitive with just 16 steps. Having notes that trigger every 2nd, 3d or 4th loop would instantly solve this. Having notes that trigger with 1/2 and 1/4 and 1/8 probability would be amazing for ambient tracks. Ties would just be nice. There are three “free” encoders (excluding red).

  5. Smoothing for M1 and M2 effects so they don’t create clicks.

Out there ideas:

  • Sidechain-like thing that would duck 3 tracks based on the 4th one. It’s such a staple in electronic music these days.

“Mod matrix or (like opsr said) two LFOs”.

I agree the absence of this is odd but you can have 4 incoming midi LFOs if that helps.

  • proper multitrack connectivity between the OP-1 field and the TX-6.
meaning ability to mix the op-1 tracks with the tx-6, and also maybe record the 4 first tracks of the tx-6 to the op-1 tape tracks.

on a sidetone it would make sense it also applies to the TP-7, I really feel the field system is not much of a system for now to be honest. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:
