I really like the fades as they implemented it, i was having much more issues without them than now, but i think the suggestion of making a setting to turn them on/off and maybe customize them could be useful !
i think it would be very possible to enable/disable the fades in a global setting but could be wrong. i haven’t noticed a difference but for whatever reason i never experienced much the pops and clicks so i can’t tell.
does anyone have an example of audio where you can hear the fades adding too much fade? its funny because i had had a discussion with the lead dev for this update a few months ago about this feature and i had this question if the fades would be audible and they said its infinitesimal and wouldn’t be audible, just enough to remove the click/pop.
since i had never had an issue with clicks and pops to begin with, i was skeptical but i still dont hear a different either way. so yeah if anyone can share a nice clear example that would be killer as then i can better understand the situation!
Try recoding a pad. Then copy a section of the pad and paste it a couple of times. Now listen to what you pasted. Maybe loop over it. You should be able to hear it.
I still regularily find audio junks left on the tape after 1.6.7.
I’ve just been messing about with the field and I’m not really noticing any downsides of the fades- I used to get loads of clicks when editing drums and basses so at least I’m not getting those now!
Oh course if shouldn’t be that difficult for them to make a simple fade on/off function. I don’t think I’ve ever turned them off in ableton though!
In Logic I almost always choose an equal power crossfade as opposed to a linear crossfade, but that could be down to Logic’s implementation of equal power just being better or more suited to my music. I wonder which style TE has implemented in the OP-1f?
During your conversation did the dev mention anything about this?
no but that is very interesting. my knowledge is pretty thin around those processing concepts so im interested now to read more into this. ill see if i can strike up a chat with the devs again too.
Do you also expecrience lags in the UI since 1.6? I’m on 1.6.7 and for me the UI gets periodically stuck for 1-2 s (mostly on tape view). And do you also see that right after finishing to record a take the line immediately disappears and then gets dropped back to the tape? It’s somewhat annoying.
1.6.9 is out ![]()

Finally managed to record something with new amp engine
sick!! love the vibe
Very cool. I also absolutely love the Amp for both guitar and bass. This is the most amazing feature I never even thought would be added to the OP-1. How are you enjoying actually playing it as a guitarist? To me it’s superb, I think the latency (lack of it) is very nice, and the thing feels great under fingers. I’d really like to know more about the tech behind it - what is this amp supposed to be like, is it based on anything etc. In my opinion it’s as good as a line6 hx stomp, which is a very good tool. I even tried the Amp with a fuzz face and liked the results. As you can probably tell, I like this a lot and feel a bit disappointed that the internet community doesn’t appreciate it like I do :). Nice jam by the way!
Hmm I don’t consider myself guitarist that much so I have low expectations and cannot really compare to other gear which I don’t have
I play acoustic guitar from time to time. So from this point of view - it’s definitely great update to Op1-f .
Yep, the lag is low, the overdrive (when subtle) is good. I’m happy that this instrument goes even more into “organic” way of creating music.
absolutely love the amp. i had been using the vocoder workaround up until this point so this is a welcome update indeed!
