I had some fun with Mad World. This wasn’t the original idea I had for, but w/e.

I’ve been busy! Charlton Heston and I teamed up to bring you the w3rd of God! No really!

It’s boom bap with turntablism… but I don’t have a mixer to do cuts with so nothing too complex. Honestly I didn’t expect to pull this off. This was a lot of fun, and no I’m not serious about the subject matter. I had the materials and had to run with it.
@minorremedy Great track. Is it just me or is there a strong Chrono Trigger vibe in there?
Here's my latest:https://soundcloud.com/yoof-1/refractorDrums are pretty good, but I think I over-messed with the track.
Nice track @yoof!
Where’d you find such drums?
Hey @gabrielperry, thanks!
The kick and snare were from the MDX kit, pitched up. I also sliced and diced two breakbeats: the classic Think break and another I can’t remember. There was a lot of stereo trickery to the drums and, you can probably hear, quite a lot of CWO
Fun, fun, fun
Lots of great stuff being posted! Shout outs @yoof and @sneakyness cool latest jams!
@yoof i don’t have an op-1 yet so its nice to hear someone programming some interesting drums. Do you find yourself having to do lots of overdubs for drums with fx? trying to picture your workflow…
Hey @Doggleby, thanks. I’d say the op-1 is a fantastic drum machine. It has a variety of sequencers that can be used in different ways (actually, I pretty much always use the one called Endless), but for me, the real gem is tape. So yes, loads and loads of overdubbing. That feels really strange at first, because you might just lay down a kick and snare pattern without any idea of how the whole thing will sound when you add other bits and pieces. But then, once that’s down, you can overlay something else, perhaps with an effect, perhaps with a bit of stereo trickery, perhaps a backwards hat with reverb on it leading into a event that’s already on the tape. Even though you’re committing to ideas, it still feels very maleable. Another amazing workflow is to then pick up a bit of your tape and drop it back into the drum sampler. From there you can remix a bar or two to create a fill or do a whole bunch of different things. I absolutely love my MachineDrum UW, but I tend to get lost in hours of jamming (heavenly jamming, mind!)… with the Op-1, I really tend to get stuff done and it still feels very experimental.
@yoof Thanks man. That’s pretty much exactly how I imagined you were working and how i might work with it.

some more light turntablism. this can hardly be called turntablism but I’m counting it as practice anyway. some day I will buy a dj mixer so I can do this for real.
New joint! All OP-1… I wish I could say OP-1 and PO-1x

OP-1 is doing the low dub chords on tape, and I’m playing the high ones by hand.
Volca keys does that reverby loop that comes in around 0:30
