OP-1 Woes (Last Ditch Before RMA)

@stepanok yeah, good questions. I agree… you would think they would be more forthcoming with warranty issues. However, I have heard from a lot of people that they have had really good experiences with replacement.

Did they end up fixing your problems? Did you get the 20% off for replacement unit?

they where responsive to my emails and offered solutions…but i was hesitant of getting another after the problems i had…i had gotten to the point where whenever i touched it i was expecting it to freeze…in a way i think they have overestimated what they could do…they are a small company which in my opinion produce more that they can handle…my only advice to anyone would be that if they decided to get one they should get it from them and not a re seller…the op1 has become such an obsessive , i need to have it, product that they are happy to get one even if it half works…that does not help …anyway…just my opinion

I’m having a similar issue, and I’m curious about the battery. If I were to replace it, can anyone confirm that this is the correct type and size?

Hey pals. I thought I would chime in again here, as I saw my vid posted above from earlier in the year. It is a private video, set to be viewable via link only, but especially as it’s had over 400 views, I’ll update you all on my op1 situation.

The issues as per the video went on for a while, and then at some point it started coming good again. I started to regulate my charging habits, and I set the optional behaviour (charge via USB on or off) to off. .

This is how I charged it: only when the batter was fully depleted ie. Blank screen after being left on. I would then switch off, and charge continuously for at least 12 hours, often more like 16. Then I would use until fully depleted again, and repeat. I would ignore the led indicators which would often stop indicating an active charge, and which would also not always show all 5 lights (including the red one) lighting up, when pressing the bubble button after initial powerup after 12-16 hour charge.

After repeating this process, my battery life seemed to even out, and it now seems to last a lonnnngggg time (haven’t timed it or anything, but I’d say I’m getting a fully working battery again, if not 16 hours of use, then still many hours amounting to a negligible difference, unless you REALLY need 16 hours)… Also, the leds now all light after a full charge, although sometimes only 4…

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
The wired grainy screen phenomenon has not occurred in several months and I assume it’s a thing of the past.

So, i guess the battery just got weird? Either way, it’s good now.

I love my op1, and for all it’s quirks, I will never want to be rid of it. So glad those issues I had are in the past.

My advice: if you’re having issues like these, don’t let it put you off the op-1 for good. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re one of us who love the op1, it would be such a shame to not experience it because of some weird glitch.

my battery indicator is always inaccurate. usually spends the most hours stuck at one led.

I got my OP1 since few days and loving it deeply…but indeed after maybe 5 hours battery goes to 1 (intense use admittedly)…never tried seeing how long it lasts that one led!

But now I’m curious…maybe is not the battery being so ‘used’ (I got it second hand serviced by TE as DSP board needed to be changed) but is just that one led lasts for another good few hours.

I wonder if others have this behaviour with their battery indicator.
