It took me a while to love the built in synths on the OP-XY but over the past few days we had a huge rain storm here in Vietnam making it impossible to go outside.
This inspired me to really dig into the synths on the OP-XY and now I’m a firm believer that any sound is possible when layering.
Here are 10 Drone/Boards of Canada presets using only the internal synths.
I’m actually blown away how good the synths can sound…
Thank you. I didn’t realize you were in Vietnam. I was there in 1971-1972. As I recall, though it was too many years ago now, monsoon season was later in the year, in the fall.
One other comment…if you recall, I was having trouble with your projects a while back. I discovered that the projects were providing the environment in which I could create music, rather than having completed tracks in themselves, so there really wasn’t a problem. For this latest set, you provided instruction about these projects that make this quite clear. Though I figured it out a while back, I appreciated those comments this time. I have a number of synths and am always switching between them, so I don’t spend focused time on the OP-XY as I probably should.
Wow, these sound great! How do you “layer” the synths in XY?
Thanks. You layer by linking tracks together…
To link tracks, press and hold the button of the track you want to be the master (the one that will trigger the others), then press the button of the track you want to link. The linked tracks will both light up, with the master track having a brighter light.
Very interesting! And I’m assuming each linked track can have its own set of parameters like different envelope shapes and such? I will try this method, your patches are inspiring!
Perhaps you can link a synth to a drum track too?
