They just added more patterns per tack in their recent update. Now it’s 16 like the Z.
Hi everyone,
I went through the wishlist thread and tried to make an updated summary of the main OP–XY requests that still seem relevant after the latest OS updates, especially after removing items that have already been implemented or partially addressed.
This is not meant to replace anyone’s individual request, but rather to make the remaining wishlist easier to read and discuss. Please correct me if I missed something or if an item is already solved.
Main remaining wishlist items
1. USB audio, stems and export
This still seems to be one of the biggest requests:
-
Multitrack USB audio output to DAW
-
Separate outputs per track over USB
-
OP–XY → TX–6 multichannel USB integration
-
Stem export
-
Export/render of a song, scene, pattern or track to WAV/MP3
-
Better integration with TP–7 for shared transport, arrangement playhead, overdub and punch-in
-
Audio tracks that can run linearly with song mode, for vocals, guitar, resampling, etc.
-
A synced looper or basic audio track recorder
2. Drum sampler and drum workflow
The drum sampler still feels like an area where many users want more depth:
-
Mute individual drum sounds inside a kit, especially for live performance
-
MIDI/controller access to individual drum mutes or drum levels
-
Per-sample editing inside drum kits: envelope, filter, pitch, pan, LFO, EQ
-
Per-sample FX send or insert FX
-
Better control of release/tails per drum sound
-
Pitch automation per drum sound
-
Chromatic playing of individual drum samples
-
Mute groups
-
Layered or round-robin drum kits
-
A more complete drum sampler workflow, closer to dedicated drum machines/samplers
3. Sampling, slicing and time-stretch
Basic slicing has improved, but people still seem to want deeper sample editing:
-
Proper time-stretching
-
Pitch-stretch or pitch-scaling options
-
Offline/lo-fi time-stretch rendering to avoid high CPU load
-
Slice to bar / slice to 2 bars
-

-
Copy/paste samples between keys
-
Project archive including all used samples
-

4. Arranger, song mode and patterns
A lot has already improved here, but there are still recurring workflow requests:
-
Copy/paste notes, trigs or bars between patterns
-
Reorder patterns or clips freely
-
Insert/cut scenes in a linear arrangement

-
Full track swap between two tracks
-
Delete unused patterns
-
Pattern reload / panic function
-
More than 120 notes/events per pattern
5. MIDI
MIDI has improved, but many users still seem to want a fuller implementation:

-
CC access to EQ, saturator, compressor, percussion/melodic levels, etc.
-
Active track MIDI channel controlling all track parameters, not only notes
-
CC access to M1–M4 pages or mode buttons

-
One MIDI track controlling multiple external devices
-
Program changes via dedicated notes or easier workflows
-
Assign Maestro/modulation to external MIDI
-
Better MIDI control of scenes and patterns
6. LFO, modulation and automation
This is another big theme: people want OP–XY modulation to become more open and flexible.
-
Any LFO type to any destination
-
More modulation destinations: volume, pan, pitch, velocity, attack, ADSR, sample start, loop points, FX parameters, etc.
-
A second LFO per track
-
Ducking that does not consume the only LFO slot
-
Duck LFO available on AUX tracks

-
Record parameter locks from the gyro/G-sensor
-
Control gyro-style variations with a knob instead of physically tilting the device
-
Better visualization of existing parameter locks on a step
-
Hear parameter changes while holding a note, without retriggering
7. FX, mixer and filters
A lot of requests are about routing, per-track treatment and more detailed sound shaping:
-
FX snapshots
-
FX presets
-
Save send FX settings with snapshots

Again, this is just a community summary. Please add, correct or merge anything I missed.
Thank you
I made an entire album with an OP-XY - but sold it because feeling like it’s an unfinished machine. I will get an other one for sure if they improve it with THE update we are all waiting for. Peace. Love. Unity.
Zach
awesome list thank you for compiling! Had a couple questions about a few that might be possible aalready?
Copy/paste samples between keys
Hold sample key down, then COPY, then on the new sample hold it down, PASTE
Control gyro-style variations with a knob instead of physically tilting the device
Not a knob but i think you can control gyro stuff via the pitch wheel too? Maybe not for LFOs, but for punch in FX i know it works.
Overwrite an existing preset instead of always creating timestamped copies
I think this was added in the last firmware(s)
Random default preset sets for new songs
This was added in the latest firmwares (Random Template)
RE: Project archive including all used samples
I just built this tool that can do a full birds eye view of your project (requires copying it to a computer first): https://opxy.app - let me know if theres anything you want to see in this app, happy to try and implement it!
my list to Teenage Engeneering.
1. Record position
-
Issue: Live recording currently always starts from the beginning of BAR1 in the pattern.
-
Idea: You can already set the start point for step recording by holding
REC + Step. It would be great if this custom position was maintained for all other record modes, and even during playback. To reset the start position to the beginning, you could double-tapSTOP(perhaps showing a red “1” to indicate it is reset). -
Bar selection: To set the start point on another BAR, you could simply hold
REC + change BAR + select STEP(similar to how step recording works today).
2. Chord Editing
-
Issue: Adding new notes to an existing chord currently deletes the existing notes first (unless you use the workaround of double-pressing the existing notes before editing).
-
Idea: When a step contains more than one note, changing notes should function as a toggle (on/off). Steps with only a single note can keep the current behavior.
3. Chord Changes Over Octave Ranges
-
Issue: It is currently not possible to add new notes on a different octave.
-
Idea: With the toggle fix mentioned above, you could move the Nudge function to
Hold Step + SHIFT + plus/minus. This would free up the standard interface to allow octave changes while holding a step.
4. Clear Step Components
-
Issue: There is currently no way to delete only the step components on a pattern.
-
Idea: Press
BARand use the unassigned M3 encoder to trigger a “clr step components” command.
5. New System Parameter: LED Dim Level
- Idea: Add a new system parameter to adjust the LED dim levels. Right now, it can be difficult to visually distinguish if an LED is dimmed or completely off.
6. New Project Parameter: Track LED Activity
- Idea: An option to make a track’s LED light up (or blink softly) whenever it plays a note. The selected track would still stay fully lit, while others dim. This would make it much easier and visually engaging to see which tracks are active without having to switch to the mixer page.
7. Mixer Page Effect Levels
-
Issue: You cannot see the send effect levels on the mixer page.
-
Idea: Use
SHIFT + MIXERto display an overview of all effect levels.
Time to dream: More M-Pages
-
Issue: Having only four M-pages per channel (M1–M4) limits the number of parameters we can control. Additionally, M-keys are used to turn the Filter and LFO on/off.
-
Idea: Change the on/off toggle for the Filter and LFO to a 1-second long-press on the M-keys. This would open up the M-keys to handle multiple sub-pages. Pressing an M-key would cycle through its sub-pages. Pressing a different M-key would reset the cycle back to page 1.
Example of sub-page structure:
-
Synth Page 1: Current behavior.
-
Synth Page 2: Deeper parameters for each engine (e.g., pitch-shift and time-stretch parameters for the sample engine). Moving the current
M-key + SHIFTpages into this sub-page structure would also feel much cleaner. -
ADSR Page 1: Current behavior.
-
ADSR Page 2: A second ADSR envelope that can modulate any synth or LFO parameter. Turn Knob 1 to select the modulation source, and Knob 2 to set the modulation depth.
-
Filter Page 1: Current behavior.
-
Filter Page 2: Channel EQ.
-
Filter Page 3: Channel FX sends (similar to a standard effect track layout, using
SHIFTto select the effect type—even just having Reverb would be a massive upgrade). -
LFO Page 1: Current behavior.
-
LFO Page 2: A second LFO that operates like LFO 1, but can also modulate parameters on LFO 1.
(This sub-page workflow would also open up massive possibilities for all auxiliary tracks.)
Advanced Note Editing Mode
-
Issue: When multiple notes share a single step, you cannot edit their data individually.
-
Idea: Hold a
Step + SHIFTto enter a dedicated Advanced Edit Mode.-
The screen/LEDs could show the same overview layout as the
BARkey. -
All notes in the selected step will start flashing. Pressing a note toggles it between flashing (selected) and solid light (unselected).
-
All flashing notes can then be edited simultaneously using the following controls:
-
Length: Hold
Step + hold Length Step(standard behavior). -
Nudge:
SHIFT + plus/minus. -
Knob 1: Pitch (click/hold knob to jump by octaves).
-
Knob 2: Micro-position (quantized by default; click the knob to toggle grid snap on/off).
-
Knob 3: Velocity level.
-
-
If there are multiple notes in a step but they sit at different micro-positions, use
+ / -to navigate between the positions. -
To edit a different step without leaving the menu, simply press the new step.
-
Press
M1to exit Edit Mode.
-
Additional Wishes & Questions
-
Gate: Add a Gate effect to the Players menu. It could include classic beat-gate patterns, or even allow us to select a specific track as a sidechain/control source to trigger the gate.
-
Multi-level Undo/Redo: Add multi-level undo, and introduce a Redo function mapped to
SHIFT + hold REC. -
Multi-USB Output: Expand USB audio capabilities to support multiple discrete outputs.
-
Punch-In Effects: Double the number of available punch-in effects by utilizing a
SHIFTmodifier layer. -
More Effects & Synth Engines.
-
A quick question: Why are there LFO options visible on the Brain, Punch-In, CV, and Tape tracks when they don’t seem to have any effect? Is this a bug or a feature coming in a future firmware update?
Long lists with lots of wishes. I’m a bit more modest
.
- Locking option for editing single drum lanes w/o holding multiple buttons at once
- Option to start resampling with the play button (instead of threshold)
- Locking option for solo track
- If any input is enabled, this should be memorized within the project
When it comes to larger features, I’m most interested in a completely revamped drum sampler.
-
Locking option for editing single drum lanes w/o holding multiple buttons at once
This! Note editing. Being able to focus on a single note lane to nudge, edit length and velocity - that’s the minimum.
