Of course, I’m just saying there’s no way that’s an official TE statement about the current feature set or potential changes in future OS’s. People shouldn’t get their hopes up.
would be nice to be able to add labels to MIDI CC’s on midi control tracks!
i’d love to do the same on the midi device list
Something that would help a TON with going from loops->songs:
Feels very very cumbersome trying to make new parts to a song: Make a new scene, re-select all the patterns, then duplicate the ones you wanna change. Feel like that whole process could just be one function… Duplicate scene.
Then:
I second both of these
The lack of copy/paste for scene seems like a glaring oversight and I can’t really imagine that it’s not already on the to-do list. I hope it comes soon as it is quite cumbersome to build each new scene as-is.
Same for reordering the patterns. Though you can work around it with copy/paste/delete of patterns but it seems like it shouldn’t be hard to make it possible just to re-order them.
Fairly enjoying my OP XY sofar, though the 1.0.15 has brought a lot of crashes I didn’t experience with the earlier firmware versions. I trust these bugs will be sorted out with future updates, so I will focus on my main three wishes I have for the OP XY:
Anyway, it is a wishlist. To make this briljant and beautiful device even better.
I’d like the underscore special character to be able to be used as I have a ton of sample libraries that have files named using the underscore. I have got a batch file re-namer on my Mac but it is a pain having to use it to batch convert files just to get rid of the underscore symbol.
A random song name generator would be handy, like on the Polyend Tracker/Tracker Mini.
A massive thing which is missing is some kind of Song Archive facility. Just like the M8, the OP-XY doesn’t save samples to the song project file. At least that’s my understanding.
If you make a song which uses samples, and you delete those samples off the OP-XY, then any songs which use those samples won’t be able to find them. The only workaround at the moment is to constantly back up the entire contents of the OP-XY. The M8 has an archive feature so you can archive a song with the samples.
it’s pointless saying this since it’s a hardware limit but THAT is why 8gb of user storage doesn’t make sense
what good is a 10,000 song cap or project history if i’ll never be able to store the bricks i built em with?
I agree about the underscore, ran into this limitation myself last night. Ditto the ability to save projects with samples, the Digitakt 2 does this and it makes back ups sooooo much easier.
I’m sure both these issues could be fixed with a software update. Here’s hoping
If this already exists then please let me know, but we need to be able to initialize a track, especially when changing an engine.
For example, if track 3 has some synth preset and then I change it to the sampler engine then all of the settings for envelope, filter etc are still going to be present on track 3. We need a way to initialize the track so that the filter is off, envelopes are not affecting the sound etc.
Fix the time signature; it currently only affects the metronome and not the sequencer.
Add more patterns—at least 16, like the OP-Z!
Include more features for sound manipulation, especially for samples.
Enable recording of M1 parameters when using samples.
The ability to manually adjust velocity after recording (the step component method has jumps that are too large).
Press the first encoder to jump to the top of the list when browsing samples. Press it again at the top of the list to jump to the end of the list. Or even hold shift while scrolling to go a page at a time… or both!
All this to say some way to make me feel like im not ‘burning out’ my knob searching for samples haha
I want to see better sample chopping and time stretching.
Some parameters for each punch in fx woukd be cool. The knobs are not doing anything in that mode. Change the gate pattern, speed, accelerometer on/ofd. Change the drums used for the ramp up/down are just some examples.
The fx ui needs an overhaul IMO. It is not very informative or as fun as other te fx, synth, or sample designs.
100% agree. I wish i could get the same variations with a knob that i can with the Gyroscope / device tilt. I hate having to pick the device up just to change the effect when ive only got 2 fingers available haha.
I read somewhere (maybe here) that the FX UI were ‘temp’ and they were working on fun stuff that wasnt done in time? Would be nice to get a big juicy update but at this point i donno… was TE PR sentiment this bad after the OP1 Field released?
Hello,
I have purchased many TE products over the past ten years. I still have an OP-1 Field, an OP-Z, and recently, I was drawn to the OP-XY because of its arrangement capabilities.
In my opinion, the best TE product remains the OP-Z. You get almost an OP-XY for a fifth of the price of the OP-XY.
The OP-XY has quite a few bugs, and my system regularly freezes, but I’m sure that will be fixed.
However, the design of the arrangement functions is not optimal, and it can be a struggle to do things that seem simple on the OP-Z.
As it stands, the OP-XY is good, but the arranger is difficult to use if you want to create somewhat complex arrangements with many chord changes and transitions.
One more wish, more than 120 notes per pattern. When we can have such long patterns now with step length options, seems very limiting.
Do you know, is that a 120 note or 120 event limit? Like are step components included? If there is an arp does each arp note count or just the notes of the chord I’m playing?
was there a similar limit on opz? also have you actually hit the limit with XY or just worried in advance about the cap being imposed on us?
