I don’t know about the Z having a limit or not, we only had one page in the sequencer and step length maxed at 8 so even with step length maxed it was less of an issue since the total track length was so much shorter.
Yes I have hit the limit, I usually play in my parts in realtime using longer tracks on the XY and there’s been a few times I get done and realize only half or 3/4 of my playing was recorded.
I’d also love to see time stretching added. Failing that, or as well as, how about a slice to bar/ slice to 2 bars. This would give 16 or 32 slices which kind of gives you time stretching if you place a slice trigger on every step. The Sonicware Lo-Fi 12 has this and I love it.
I’d also love a dedicated Mac and PC editor which could unlock the synth engines like Novation have for their Circuit and Circuit tracks. Being able to tweak parameters that aren’t accessible on the XY would be awesome.
Team up with Soniccharge again like they did with the Tonic Pocket operator. I love that device and the MicroTonic VST.
As a Reason user I also love the Malstrom synth, which Magnus from Sonic-Charge designed. It would be awesome to have a collab between him and TE, porting Malstrom to either the XY or OP-1F.
Also Reason Studios would have to be involved but it could be an interesting collab. Highly unlikely I’d imagine but I can’t help but hope. A DrRex REX file player for either the OP-XY or OP-1 field would be awesome too, I don’t want much I know
I’m loving the OP-XY more & more each time I use it. I won’t be selling my OP -Z anytime soon though as I still love that as well.
Hoping TE keep making updates for the XY as the potential for this device is huge, I think they’ve taken the OP-Z as far as they can though and I’m happy for that device to stay in it’s current software version.
Make step counter reset to 0 when the pattern starts. Not having it makes step components like “step skip every N times” absolutely unmanageable in song mode. It’s just annoying guess game
Copy/Paste sample from one button to another. When I have a long sample and need to cut it and use different parts of it - can be also solved with better chopping workflow)
Scene Duplicate. Starting a new scene from all tracks on on 1st pattern is crazy
Extend step length to next bar
full midi map like on OPZ
Show correct waveform when zoomed in on in/out points. Currently it just shows random stuff
Thank you. This makes no sense and makes it so hard to use step components within song mode. I either have to adjust the step components to fit where the patterns start within a song (sometimes this just isn’t possible) or not use step components at all.
Man, in hindsight I realize how much more useful and sophisticated the Z was/is. I bought the XY thinking it would be everything Z had but more… somehow? It’s a bummer. I spent all this money for a truncated workflow (basically the EP series with better synth options and a way worse sampling situation). Kind of crazy when you think about it.
I don’t like relying on hopes of a miraculous update either. Anyone heard any official statements about it? Like, does TE really think this is a kickass device?
Starting to feel some serious buyer’s remorse, eek!
I think they have to push a major update. If they don’t then their reputation is going to take a huge hit. As it stands right now this device is not worth the price. I’m not saying it’s bad but I feel overall it’s just ok and that’s not worth this kind of money.
I also hope that TE will release an exceptional update that will justify the product’s equally exceptional price and avoid making the extravagant promotion that accompanied its release seem like false advertising.
I’ve been using TE products for ten years, and with each new product, it’s the same story. On paper, it’s “amazing,” but in the details, many things are unfinished and may never be fixed or improved, as TE is probably already working on a future product.
As for the OP XY, it would be a real shame because this machine has enormous potential… It’s really enjoyable to use, but it’s also frustrating because it has a remarkable interface design with entry-level features (in some areas, my QY10, bought in 1990, does better).
No, I bought a used one after it had already been out for a while. The Z was always my favorite in terms of workflow and design, so I didn’t want to get the op-1 field really. But when the XY was announced I really did feel like it would be the dream machine to replace all other machines for me lol. So, my fault for not realizing that I’m more of a sampler guy than a house music sequencer guy. Just seems like the Z could do both effortlessly!
this can’t come soon enough… recreating a scene is such a buzzkill right now.
another related annoyance is that the tracks effected by Brain seem to be saved with a scene, not the Brain pattern itself. i’ve been working on a project where only tracks 4 and 5 are effected by Brain and every time i make a new scene, i have to go into Brain and deactivate all the other ones
Is there any way to copy only the pattern sound, mixer settings to another pattern on the same track? The op-z can do this and it seems like it would only make sense to have this on the op-xy.
