Op-xy

The FCC document about a new product from Teenage Engineering has been released.

I previously came across rumors about a field device with a powerful sequencer, not the OP-Z, being in development. I suspect this product might be that very device.
What do you all think?

I wonder if TE can release a device that’s more appealing than the Ableton Move.

Already ordered one. I wish the OP-Z would exist in the same form factor. I’m a bit tired of the button combinations while lounging on the couch and trying to balance my phone for a screen sometimes… one can hope…

All I can understand from the docs that it has bluetooth and battery in it lol. And this image

Edit: also someone shared this on elektronauts forums

Hmm interesting so I’m the 16th we get the announcement. Also lot of stores haven’t been restocking the op z funny I was thinking bout getting one but I’ll wait now

Jesper Kouthoofd’s Instagram Posts had Some clues: teenage engineering (@kouthoofd70) • Instagram photos and videos

TE’s website also turned into grey colors, at the bottom there’s some text: etwas kommt bald. It means: something’s coming

Iirc these were 9 track reel to reel data tapes.

So the op-xy might refer to a tape reel to reel op-1 style but 9 tracks indicates its setup like the opz… I think we got the mini op1 (z) in the opxy so to speak

The op-xy is code for the OP-1Z

They posted something today that looked very much like a page r style timeline, and also, have posted with what I think is a CMI III recently. But that video posted today, also features some strange black and white visualizer looking graphics.

Whatever the case we’ll know in 12 hrs

$2500 (after tax) - they went a little high on this one

Can’t wait to see hands on review

Totally, I’m particularly curious to see how it interacts with the OP1-field, I’m sure there’ll be some cool tricks when you put them side by side considering they share the exact same hardware layout.

As for the price… well, I hope they sell loads of them during xmas so there’s some second-hand market for next summer

will be interesting to see what you get compared to an op-z with modules (for 2k price difference).

It looks like Darth Vader designed an OP-1

I’m sure it’s awesome and does a zillion things and is very cool, I’m just fascinated by the fact that I feel zero technolust towards it.

The sampler is going to be beefy 8Gig storage 512mb Ram …

If it has liner tape /sequence record in tandem with the step sequencer for recording of performance and complete tracks like the 1 its going to be quite amazing playground…

For the price the new engines better be spanking :loud_sound::zap:

Me too
Totally not interested
It’s exactly what I was hoping for in that it’s an op-z 2.0 on steroid but the price and the item itself aren’t particularly calling me

Now this might have to do with me getting a brand new op1f last week and a brand new ko2 in June but still I just sold my op-z last month and I said no more gear

Just glad I didn’t want the op-z anymore to begin with almost anticipating this happening

PS I doubt it will have linear /tape recording like the op1f, that would render their flagship obsolete. Don’t kid yourself, despite the price the Op1F is still the flagship
