The 16 buttons top row are for each of the sequencer tracks. “C” is for cv/ trig. No idea how they’re going to get cv, video, cv and audio out of this thing.
My guess is the price will be whatever you hope it is plus $200 - at bare minimum. Because Synth Company Dude always quotes a price that is off from the real price by $200 or more, because he’s not a manager, or he didn’t anticipate some problem with one or more suppliers; or there’s some problem with that design that forces some kind of factory retooling… or whatever. We have seen this happen over and over and over again.
The OP-Z page mentions DMX for light sequencing. That standard has its own connector and electrical inerface. The line out is not good for CV because of the output capactors block DC voltages. All the secrecy behind those ports at the back is really intriguing and make me believe there wiil really be dedicated output ports for CV and DMX unvealed later on. As for video, the diagram already shows it coming from the tethered iOS device.
no they want to reach the masses. like PO did the last two years. look at elektrons move to cripple down existing machines but representing some new design to double the buyers.

We have seen this happen over and over and over again.So... $500 at bare minimum. $600 is probably more realistic.
i was super pissed when the pocket operators came out at $259 instead of the $49 price point they talked about before…
;p
grrr… why no namm 2017 videos yet???

Heh, good one.
@masterofstuff124 I think you should expect some criticism in every forum if you post a half page wall of text rant about how modular has no musical sequencers and how the very essence of modular systems, fiddling with cables, triggers, modulators, is so unusably cumbersome. That’s almost trolling
“Definitely cheaper than OP-1”, he says at the end.
I have to say, after laughing about this box for quite a while, at the moment this really seems to be the most innovative thing coming out.
) use Android these days.yeah. I’m definitely warming up to it!
On the sonicstate video, you can see on the second op-z in the back that is controlling dmx lights that there is a white connector plugged in the machine’s rear.
That means we can expect to have midi out, cv out, dmx lights out (and perhaps hdmi) on the op-z back.
Ahah, that would be cool!
@eesnSorry that my post came off as glad-handing.or as incessant prattle. Ive noticed of late people are far more critical on this forum about that sorta thing. As a result I limit my posts these days. and as a side effect those occasional posts are usually quite long like the one you responded to.im not saying you were being critical btw. just in general a sentiment ive been seeing around this forum these days.
Don’t sweat it, buddy, I meant it as a tongue-in-cheek statement too, hence “not that anyone would judge” at the end. Technolust is technolust. I want a creative sequencer as much as anyone else, in fact I want that calculator-looking thing to try it out, stat! My main criticism towards the OP1 has been the 4/4 16step mindset. I would say I’m glad to see TE break out of that box with the OPZ, but this is TE so until the actual product is on the shelves, I’ll keep quiet on that, regardless of what the specs say. I’m anxious about the fact that it runs Unity - I can easily imagine it being underpowered. Actually it has a Unity-compatible component, e.g. Unity runs someplace else. p.s. Modular is what you make out of it, some of my best recordings have come from a single regular trigger signal, so who knows. Recently been getting sweet results with the Keystep arpeggiator (hold+random), signal through an LFO. Also liked iOS Trigger Box enough to make a custom cable and split left-right to separate devices.
On the sonicstate video, you can see on the second op-z in the back that is controlling dmx lights that there is a white connector plugged in the machine's rear.I hope so. The OP-Z preview page on the TE site clearly states only two cabled I/O - USB and a 3.5mm jack as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
That means we can expect to have midi out, cv out, dmx lights out (and perhaps hdmi) on the op-z back.

Interesting, the site lists a Blackfin 70x series DSP but I couldn’t find which particular model has 1250 MMACS. Anyone?
Damned!
I’ve looked at the video again and it seems indeed that it’s just the table… Ahlala. Sorry for the wrong speculation…
But if there is no connectors on the back, i don’t know how it could sequence external gear without a pc (or via another usb device?).
Ah, we’ll know one day.
About the 4 poles 3.5mm jack, it could be for using the microphone in a mobile phone or a headphone with a integrated mic for the sampler track (and then no more problem with failing mic like the one on the op-1) .
edit: (“integrated mems microphone” in the specs)
But i don’t believe the main out (the 3.5mm jack) can handle audio, cv, midi and dmx lights all together.
