One more crucial detail/tip about Punch-in FX: the loop effects (G, A) don’t loop the last note played by the sequencer, but the last note you triggered.

For example, if you only have hi hats sequenced on track 3 but you play a tom, Shift + G/A will trigger a tom roll.

When shifting sequence notes on the OP-Z by holding Track and pressing Left or Right, I like to add a Step Component to the first step as a visual reference for the sequence’s starting position. I usually choose Component Spark. After shifting steps, the component shows me how many steps I’ve moved without counting, and helps me return to the original position if needed.

I find it most useful when the sequence is playing, letting you go crazy shifting all steps while still being able to quickly get back.

It’s not an amazing tip, but maybe some people will find it helpful.

I recently discovered a feature that makes the OP-Z arpeggiator track even more awesome: step components and pattern length can affect the order or duration of the notes. The behavior is quite quirky and I can’t quite figure out the logic behind it yet, but I’ve had some interesting results with pulse hold and multiply to change the rhythm, velocity for accents, and changing the pattern length for various note repeats. Some of this can also be done with parameter locks, but I find step components easier to edit and move around. Unfortunately jumping to a specific step doesn’t change the order of the notes.
What I really love is that this also works when playing live notes, as long as the sequencer is playing!
