OP1 Field tracks

Here’s two more. First one is a bit of a joke… second one I made the day our ex-vet wrongly diagnosed our dog with cancer and almost had us put him down… long story. Fortunate we didn’t listen. It was one of the saddest days I’ve had though. We almost did it.

Another little something, recorded from my piano to the porta tape. Played back into album feature at twice the speed, while working the tape live. Then back to studio tape, but pitched down -24. And then the fast version on top of that. And some pads. And some printed fx throughout all this as well -

Went a little Thomas Newman here, remembering when I saw American Beauty for the first time and walked him through the winter cold, alone -

Back from a long break from this forum. So meanwhile I updated from OP-1 to OP-1Field. Here I was wondering if I could use the tape as a bentobox noise machine. Was pretty fun to play with. As always with noise-music, might not be that fun to listen to 0:)

How did u get that acid bass feel going? Did u record it externally or produced it within the op1?

(Double post with op-1 tracks thread)

Another live set at Axelrad’s “neon garden” similar material but audience mic is left on here. Gets a little energetic in the middle, some new stuff there.

This is 2 op1s plus 1 op1f mixed unsynced. A little risky but fortunately this came out much better than my practice. Easy to train wreck

7-7 Live at Axelrad 5/31/25

The creation of the music is a little funky — always one unit recorded to another (line in) and normally unsynced (timing button-click record with button-click sequencer start). Feels like this breaks my obsession with illusion of perfection, and sounds funky to my ears. Also Pushing distortion and eq to the edge of my aural tolerance. Distortion from the compressor, from overdriving the line in, sometimes from the drum sampler (can overdrive the audio into clipping)

@Schaum, Sounding great here. Emotional

Well, thank you Andrew for your kind words. I started recording this track in the hospital when my son was born a couple of weeks ago and finished it at home later. I love that you can just take the OP1 with you and it does not require much space or loading its battery all the time. The track is all OP1 Field as one can tell by all the typical clicks and pops of the loops lol

Beautiful work as always @rephazer you gonna release a new sample pack with this? Yes you are. Don’t argue.

Thank you so much my friend. So good to see you here ! You still in DAW land? No new sample pack with this, but I did use most of the sounds included in my sample packs. Also, since there is still a 500 sounds limit on the Field I am not making anymore packs as long as that limit remains.

However I am not sure if you knew, but I did make most of the factory sample content and sampled presets of the OP-XY and I released a couple of new sample packs for that

I move between Logic and the OP-1 Field, though I enjoy the OP-1 more - and the results in Logic tend to sound (way) better, but not come out nearly as interesting.

I did know you released a bunch of OP-XY stuff, but I don’t have that kit  I was considering it for a while, but it seems complex enough that pairing it with the OP-1 isn’t a given, which makes it pointless to me.

Looking forward to your release tho :fire:

Both OP-1 and XY are great, but also very different at the same time.
Nothing really pairs great with the OP-1 though… It’s a lonesome groovebox

Here is another fragment:

I really enjoyed pairing the OP-1F with the KO2 before I got the XY and that stole all my attention. But yeah I know what you mean - I keep trying to shoehorn the OP-1F into my OP-XY stuff and it’s just so much better if you use it as a self-contained idea machine.

Love these new jams of yours btw, really inspiring to see someone who really has a mastery of the device like that. Can’t wait to check out the full set.
