PO-20 arcade, PO-24 office, PO-28 robot

So you can’t sequence the lead sounds on Robot?

Will have a sample pack for sale on sampleninjas.com with all the original patterns, one shots, etc in less than 48 hrs if anyone is interested. People seem to like the packs I made with the originals. It will be cheap…somewhere between $5-10. At this point I have the preset patterns recorded for the 20 & 28 at 80,120 and 140 bpm. Recorded the one shots for the mini drum machine on the 20 and individual sounds for the 28. Still gotta see whats up for recording the chords on the 20. Then going to do the Office. Once that is all wrapped I plan to record loops to my reel to reel and cassette and bounce them. I think I may make some more mixed up OP-1 kits with these, time permitting.

So you can't sequence the lead sounds on Robot?

Not as far as I’ve seen. Purely for live performance only.

Strange their Guide on their website states:

“the device is equipped
with a
16-step, 2-channel sequencer. the
first sequencer channel is
for
melodies, and the second is for
drums.”

you can sequence melodies on the robot. it has a micro drum kit like the sub and factory. you can sequence both and play the “live melody” channel on top of them but not sequence it.

no?

Just received my 3 PO’s at the office, can’t wait to play with them this evening

i ordered office but arcade got delivered today. i was on the fence about arcade but now its in front of me i can’t resist so have ordered office again

lol. arcade is real fun (like an arcade should be). my only real qualm with it is the dark glossy purple paint makes it hard to read both in the moderate darkness and direct light. but these things are pretty easy to get a grasp of and not really need the labels anyways

Good point about the purple, the daylight is fading here so I get what you mean. Agreed - once I’m familiar with it that won’t be an issue.

Going to hook it up to some spring reverb and delay pedals over the weekend for added fun. As mistakes go, this is a pretty good one.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the lead synth. Yes, it has two tracks that can be sequenced, melody and drums. But the lead cannot be sequenced. I would’ve much preferred that.

agreed

I’d have liked (apologies in advance PO-24 Office):

- The PO-12 Rhythm’s drum track
- The PO-20 Arcade’s melodies
- The PO-20 Arcade’s chords/drones
- The PO-28 Robot’s lead track with it’s glides (but sequence-able)

However, if we had all that in one unit, TE wouldn’t sell any other units (apart from the PO-12 Rhythm).

CB

I now have the Rhythm, Factory and Arcade. Sub or Robot next?

A long time ago @masterofstuff124 mentioned the Chipophone here:

Well, according to Sound On Sound interview with TE, that same Linus Akesson is the mind behind the new POs (at 00:40):

I remember stumbling across his homepage a few years back, super talented guy with some interesting projects, he has a page about the PO’s here http://www.linusakesson.net/music/po-2x/index.php

Chip music for me is kind of a guilty pleasure, having grown up with it in video games in the early 80’s it certainly shaped my interest in electronic sounds, but I rarely dabble in it myself, back in the day though this was one of my faves

And it was later used in a TV ad for washing machines!

Probably going to cop all 3 new PO’s once the cases are available. Chiptastic!

I also had this “Chiptune Theory” video saved on my favorites, just realized it is Linus as well:

^ That was the thing that made me discover his page a few years back! I don’t think it was ever released, shame as it looks fun.

Hmm so I guess the po20 has the closest features to the"bitbuf" . and they are available locally already(that was fast) so I’m thinking I’ll go pickup the arcade today. Anyone care to steer me in another direction?

Just made this with Arcade and Robot:

Never played anything with such a fun factor, TE really nailed it with the new Pocket Operators!
