Can OP-1 power an external midi keyboard (minilab 3 for example) when connected via USB like the OPXY does? I have tried several cables and not sure if it does not power it because of the cables I am using (including the original one) or just that it can’t ..?
Hey, in case of the OG OP1 (dunno about the field version) there’s unfortunately no direct way to plug an external controller. you would need to plug a further midi device inbetween OP1 and ext. Keyboard to make them talk, like a laptop or a Kenton MiDI device eg. But I’m sure you can also use a smartphone with a decent midi app. There‘s also the original OPlab from TE wich does the job, but it’s really rare to get and expansive, too ftm. I think a smartphone solution would be the easiest way, also on the go.
Another good thing is, if you plug a keyboard you will also get velocity sensitivity on the keys for expression.
Field can, it can power and host Deluge, or M8, or just a controller… the original can’t. You need a little (powered) box in-between. I had a Doremidi branded one with OG OP-1.
