The dmx will be and add-on component though right?
Looking like it yeah. Dmx uses a five pin connector like Din midi so I assume it will be part of the external modules

Did someone in here mention the elektron digitone? Cuz I’ve been watching videos on the Deluge and that and they’ve both taken places as the contender to be my next purchase instead of the op-z
Still looking forward to seeing more details about OP-Z, part of me is curious as to if I will have a use for it, part of me is waiting for the stock to arrive and obvious scramble to secure one

I had money saved up for the OP-Z when I thought it was launching in April. Spent it on a Digitone. No regrets!

It looks like a helluva machine. Definitely puts out a much fatter sound than the op-z. How is it? Do you feel like you get around the machine easy enough? It looks awesome but I’m still holding out to see what the Op-z is like. I’d like something more portable than the digitone. Hopefully someday elektron steps up their game and makes a smaller device

I love it! I get around it super easy, but I’ve had a Digitakt too for a while and the workflow is nearly the same. Has a really vast sound palette and the drum sounds are killer.

It looks amazing for a price pretty close to the Op-z, but having a synth/sequencer that I can carry around in my pocket is an exciting prospect. I’m waiting to make sure the Op-z can make more than just cuckoo-esque pocket operator noises. If it doesn’t seem as capable as it looks to be I’ll probably end up getting the digitone
Late comment but from my perspective it’s like… a year ago I was all like OMG yeah, the OP-Z looks great, I want one so bad… and now I’m like, OMG, the PO-33 looks great, I want one so bad… with the OP-Z at like $600 suddenly I’m not comparing it to the pocket operators or whatever, I’m comparing it to the OP-1 or any of the Elektron devices, and those other devices seem more powerful AND I don’t have to buy an Apple device… I’m not sure I remember what exactly what it was that had me so uniquely excited about the OP-Z last year, but at this point I’m just comparing it to other devices, some of them by Teenage Engineering, and it doesn’t stand out.
(Sorry if I’m being a bit of a downer… also I like Andrew Huang…)

I can understand that, I’ve been looking at the elektron digitone. It’s easily much more powerful than the op-z but I think I still want to wait until release so we can see it in the hands in a broader range of artists with different tastes and styles. I would wager we really haven’t seen it stretch it’s legs yet.
If I had to choose, from what I’ve seen so far of the OP-Z, I’d go with the Digitone, hands down.

Not sure what you mean here; the PO-32 and PO-33 (and hey, even the PO-12) are definitely capable of a wide range of sounds. I just got the PO-32 the other day and my first jam on it sounded like early Pan Sonic—unexpectedly huge and abrasive.
I just canceled my preorder I ordered a Deluge instead. I’ll probably save up to an op-z later this year.

I hear you, I bought a iPad Pro and cancelled my pre-order. Let see how it looks next year.
I’m glad I didn’t pre-order but I do still have faith the Op-z is going to be a hell of a machine
It’s been real quiet on the op-z front for the past month. Excited to hear more soon.
i actually emailed the moma a few weeks ago asking about any details on the TE launch event. they wrote back and said that TE would have any and all details and to ask them for any clarity. as well they linked me to their event schedule, which i checked… and didn’t have any listing for TE. i don’t think that means much in terms of it happening or not, but i was kind of surprised they didn’t have anything to pass along, even a start time or length or venue or whatever.
Maybe the event will take place at some parking lot near MoMa…
Maybe there’s another moma
ah hahahah parking lot release would actually make me hyped again…
Plz parking lot… Maybe flash mob even… Naked people to reflect the minimalist aesthetic of the opZ…
Hey TE, I’m avail as a holistic consultant.
hahahaa… But please no video live stream if that’s the case!
