For maximum energy transfer, maybe try placing the OP-Z in a soft surface, or holding it with your handsā€¦ just donā€™t drop the Scotch!

A real glass was too heavy and solid to transmit the vibrations. But this small metal one worked quite well. Still wonā€™t help you to imagine what it feels like

Great video, thanks for making it! Best promo of the module Iā€™ve seen so far, TE should repost at the very least

Ok guys, ultra-super-pro advice:
Get that freaking module, connect the op-z to your phone and select usb audio as source and play your favourite music through the op-z with rumble module!
Ever wanted to feel that bass and Kick on Massive Attackā€™s ā€œAngelā€? Already listened to Toolā€™s FEEL Inoculum? Well you should! Iā€™m so close to binding that thing to my chest, to always feel the music on the go :joy:

EDIT: I know thereā€™s dedicated hardware for that. But since I do not own any, the op-z is a nice workaround

Great suggestion! You reminded me that this could work with apps passed through the op-zā€™s DAC - feels great driving heavy bass from Model 15 or Animoog!

Everyone use caution if you purchase a ā€œpreviously ownedā€ rumble module

OK, OK, I just ordered one!

A friend just got one and I am surprised at how nice it feels. I donā€™t need the op-lab when I am out of the house, or on the couch and never used the phone stand in the dummy module. So I just ordered one.

I realized that too, I never use the opLab unless Iā€™m at home with modular gear. The Rumble feels so good though that Iā€™m too lazy to put the opLab back in!

I just got mine!! Is a very weird sensation feeling the bass but not being able to hear itā€¦ Iā€™ve only used it with the internal speaker so farā€¦ it does rumble really nice thoughā€¦ Not like a cell phone at allā€¦ more like two serwin vegas in the trunk as a teenagerā€¦ is really a rubbery bass.

Iā€™m finding the String synth engine to be really great with the Rumble

Concerning battery life:
I just let the op-z rumble for some time, today. Half of the time I let it play the loop from my video above. The other half I chose more or less constantly deep rumbling.
The op-z shut down after a bit more than 4 hours and I used the highest intensity-setting of the rumble.
Usually my op-z lasts between 4 to 6 hours maximum (never really took the time, before todayā€˜s test), so Iā€™m absolutely ok with that.
Fun fact: the last battery-LED lasted for more than 30 minutes :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Seems like a winner all round! Nice one TE for giving the unexpected that works, right.
For a user that never hand-holds (live Metro not needed), is it worth having? I run Z into the original oplab soā€¦

Did anyone try to put the OP-Z with rumble module on a soundboard like an acoustic guitar ? Just wondering if it would make the bass audible and how it would come out of it.

Just got the module today and here are my thoughts:

  • You can really feel the bass and kicks when playing them but only if you hold it in your hands like a game controller NOT when placed on a table
  • The module adds some weight to the OP-Z which is great
  • Installing is super easy
  • The black buttons look cool
  • Also there is some slight change of bass sound when the module is activated. I only tested it with some iPhone headphones

Conclusion so far: Nice but I expected a little bit more especially because I mostly use it on a table

EDIT: Tested it yesterday with some proper headphones while sitting on the couchā€¦ The OP-Z just came alive in my hands. Damn!
