The gearlust thread part deux: post your GAS

Damn @windy, you just missed Musician’s Friend blowing out the OG Nord Drum for $99 USD.

That guitar must be like $6000 or something lol. Awesome though.

It is pretty expensive now but I got in on it @ the initial preorder announcement, they raised the price by over 1k since then…I just hope it gets finished before I croak!

I’m a proud owner of a Nord Drum, thanks to you @KrisM! $100 is a steal that you can’t even find on used on eBay, score! On the downside I can see how it can be limited comparing it to the ND2.

Does anyone know if more programs can be loaded into the ND1?

After 3 years of gas… It has arrived! The Solaris.
But gas never goes: this looks amazing:

But realistically I think my next gear will be a tänzbar

Congrats, I’ll have to look into that synth. It must feel ethereal to own a Voyager.

I’m keeping things fairly small and looking for a new x0xb0x.

Sorry, I bring up the iTrack Dock a lot, but here’s some info on compatible midi devices that they’ve tested:

I’m thinking of making a list of something’s to send them, I guess I’ll start with the Op-1. The list mentions it interfaces, do you guys think there’s any way around it? (e.g. OG iconnectmidi )
Any other suggestions?

@M_Prod that looks soooooo cool

I just saw someone offering a shruthi-1 assembled and in a case for 150Euro. I am struggling not to buy it. It would go great with the Lemur template, no need for the XT… AAARG…must…resist…

octatrack and TE’s new drum machine…

OOOO and an alesis ION if I ever get the chance…

I got the Tanzbär @M_Prod and I love it! I think it was a liiitle bit tricky to learn (due to the manual and its not so good translation from german to English…) but it sounds awesome and is supercool to jam with.

I just spent my sub37 savings on my OP-1. So I’m gonna try not looking at anything else for a while! Still have down payment on the moog when it turns up.

Martin OMCPA4 - Tried a bunch of guitars at Chuck Levins’ and this was my favorite, although a couple of Taylors that cost $1000+ more came close. Just love the sound and playability.

Casio PX-5S - Huge upgrade over my current digital piano

There are some lovely Debussy piano pieces I want to take on, and while I’ve heard some nice renditions on guitar, I’d rather play them on piano. But… that OMCPA4 was so seductive…

The Shruthi in a case for 150 euros is a great buy! I didn’t realise there was a Lemur template for those things!!!

I just bought myself a Bastl Instruments MicroGranny 2.0 along with the Midi Bastl Sync.
The Midi plug-in should allow me to sync the Granny, OP-1 and my Volcabass all together

Hey governor Silver I have been listening to alot of Debussy of late. I also play Guitar; Could you share some of those renditions?Piano or guitar I play both and would love to Learn some Debussy!

@masterofstuff124 Here are the guitar renditions of Debussy pieces that I like - I avoided the versions with two guitars because I wanted to hear what was possible with just one.

Pretty nice solo guitar version of Arabesque #1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4NSXMdxG-U

Girl With Flaxen Hair on solo electric guitar (you can see the guitarist playing starting around 1:40): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHNLSuiyD1E

Claire de Lune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFLPdxdvEXke

I like François-Joël Thiollier’s recordings on piano - I like his dynamics and how the piano was recorded (in a real hall somewhere?):

I don’t think my Thiollier CD has Girl with Flaxen Hair so I’ll share this instead:

@dimi3 I want to experiment with sequencing the Sub Phatty with my Octa. For now have just been recording the Moog into the OP-1. Mostly playing bass lines. Also experimenting controlling it with the Oplab and sampling into the OP-1. I am currently getting hung notes though, so have to investigate that.

@meneervincent Sub phatty seems solid. I’m sure the hung note prob I mentioned is user error. Just have to figure out the “shift panel mode” for midi stuff, also could be my Oplab settings. I haven’t tried to register mine yet. Bought it used, so hope there isn’t a problem there. Want to test the editor though. I love the fact you can just have a limited amount of presets. Really inspires you to create a small bank of original sounds and then use those on your production. And let’s face it, Subtractive mono synths aren’t exactly sound design workhorses (except for the Pro 2 GAS!!!). After a while you can get any sound you want pretty quick with the gobs of knobs! Have had a little phatty, microkorg and DSI Evolver desktop and am glad to not be using a programming matrix.

@M_Prod Solaris is beast! Of course then Modulus has to drop, arg the ways of the GAS! Tanzbar looks so cool!

I’ve discovered over the last few days that learning Pure Data is curing a lot of my GAS o.O

So far.
