The gearlust thread part deux: post your GAS

Nice find VF!

Nice find VF!

Thanks man! Always wanted to try a real Monome, especially integrated into Live. I messed around with MLR and a launchpad back in the day. Fun, but to much hassle setting up. This new Terms pack for M4L looks cool. A simple way to use a Monomo like a monome with ableton. Would love to hear some feedback if anyone out there has a Monome!!!

The Organelle actually looks awesome.

How difficult is Pure Data, anyway? Is it something where a beginner struggles for a day to create a tone at 440 hz? Or is it actually malleable?

Obviously, you’ll need to understand quite a bit about synthesis, but that’s a given.

Look like organelle will be around $500.

Please join the new critter forum to join in discussions about organelle. I just posted a thread about OP-1 connectivity with the Organelle since it has 2 on board USB ports.

Iirc the Pd site has links to a really good series of tutorials that also tracks your progress @josker

Thanks @KrisM - there actually seems to be a lot of resources for learning PD, which is nice, but as I’m pretty much interested in it because of the Organelle, I’m kind of reluctant to dive in just to decide whether I want to buy the thing  But … It’s looking like an inevitability. Oh well, maybe the C&G guys will demo their patches, at least.

The MFB Dominion 1 is on my short list. I had the SED X version, but ended up selling it. It sounded great, though. The keys on the “1” makes for a much better fit for my setup. I just don’t have any place to put it!

…anybody saw this? looks like a new fun approach to sequencing…

Wow Laune. that looks very nice. Loads of connectivity and CV outputs.

That paired with a Eurorack or -Phenol- would be pretty amazing.

edit: love to see a Squarp Pyramid vs Kilpatrick Carbon side by side.

Here’s something else that’s of interest to us:
“Want to use a USB controller that lacks MIDI output ports? No problem! CARBON has a built-in USB host interface that will power your class-compliant MIDI device and allow you to use it to control CARBON or send MIDI or CV/gate signals to any device. You no longer need a computer or other dedicated box to use your favourite USB MIDI controller.”

That’s a nice feature indeed, price is 699 dollers…

I like the Carbon and I love the amount of analog outs, but I just have way too many external sequencers atm lol. Any sequencing I buy from here on out will be inside the modular.

This might be fun…if you have the patience and spare parts;

Okay, I did it - dove in with PD.

It’s not as difficult as you’d expect, but suddenly you have to things into account like how to build polyphonic logic - can feel like a chore if you’re not into the actual process.

I built a 8-step sequencer which triggered a two-saw bass line and a two-sample drum “machine”

What remained kinda unclear was the sonic capabilities of PD. Was a bit surprised to find that there are only sine and saw waves, unless I missed something. And it seems like its strong suite isn’t building subtractive machines quickly - but on the other hand, building more complex stuff takes quite a bit of understanding.

Maybe I should consider the Organelle as something I could load ready made patches on - not necessarily something I’m able to build awesome machines on

And - omfg, Elektron are adding probability and “play every nth trig” logic on at least the Analog machines. That’s absolutely killer.

Oh, that’s good news, @josker! I wish they would extend a funky sequencer update as far back as the MD, but I guess probably not. Lucky I have an A4 then

Looks like we’re getting PUSH 2.Fairly GAS worthy IMO.
