What are you listening to?

Joey Starr not a musician / not talented ??? WTF ?!?

The day I can have a crowd jumping like a single man like this, I’ll definitely call myself a musician…
Damn, the guy is huge on stage, not a musician come on !
He’s amazing on screen, too. Not talented is a bit quick imho.
Anyway, I can understand one doesn’t like him, I used to as well

I’ll check your sound, do you have a last.fm account as well ?

dont get me wrong about joey star but i told you after living the phenomen of OL DIRTY BASTARD anyone trying to gain respect of the’ hommies’ is not of MY taste just because he is trying (bad boy boing)

https://soundcloud.com/thorivos
well my music is mostly anti music i mean antipopular (probabbly thats why i chosen to go by the name Thorivos means noise (bruit)and secondly i am enjoying making it all the way as a process as my admiration for many and opposite forms collide in a noise context

No pb.

I don’t think JoeyStarr is playing the bad boy, I really think he still has his daemons.
Anyway, that’s not why he has my respect
The guy is authentic, that’s for sure. What makes you feel that ODB is above anything else ? Would you share it ?

Your music is noisy for sure. “A2.Said” reminds me a bit of Twine’s “plectrum”, in a rawer way.
Let me teach you a nice word : “lawaai”. It means noise in Netherlands. ^^
One day I’ll make some music from this word as well.

6:00 songs are so OP-1 ^^

Ok if good timing means something i was Lucky to live my hip hop passage on point first with the Grateast PUBLIC ENEMY when I was 17 and few years later with Wu tang and ODB spécificaly cause he died 26 years old, always Stoned and never lefta his Brooklyn full of cockroaches even if his group were no1 worldwide, ugly i know but pure and raw Appart from à lyrical unic flow which was no holdback pure. no festival des cannes for him

On Marijn's recommendation, I am currently listening to E.M.M.A.'s Dream Phone track.
It's really excellent !

Soundiron. It’s not an artist, but a studio that collects demos from artists that use its tools. Lots of really good electronic and “cinematic” music there. I have always been interested in the capacity of music to create a mood or tell a story, and that page contain tons of tracks that do at least the former.

AMB. Glitch and other types of electronic music. Maybe I just don’t have enough exposure, but to me they sound very distinct and unusual.

Aly James. A guy who makes VST plugins. From what I understand, he also records his own demos and they are awesome. Among others things, he wrote a plugin emulating Sega Megadrive. @beefinator, you might appreciate those if you’re into chiptune, although I don’t think it strictly fits the genre.

(Yeah, yeah, a lot of the “music” I listen are synth demos. It’s not that I’m constantly shopping for new gear anymore, I just like to hear something where people try to use the most out of one instrument, rather than mix a zillion of them. Plus, they are free. Most of you probably already know about him, but I like listening to Jexus/WC Olo Garb.)

this.

@gambler - AMB was in my DJ arsenal since 2007, when i came across the “Mechanical” track on wax. i played that joint dozens of time on the club floor to an appreciative crowd mixed with some other dope breakbeats. i would still rock it if i had time to DJ, and still own the 12". i’ll have to check out his latest work on soundcloud. thanks for the reminder.

Very nice track @kln !

This place is full of references I’ve never heard about.
Music is an eternal Terra Incognita

I haven’t yet dug in yet, but Planet Mu boss (µ-Ziq) has “done an aphex” and uploaded gazillions of tracks to soundcloud.

I found The Shoes’ “Time to Dance” video with Jake Gyllenhaal totally wicked and very impressive.

Drifted is quite something else, I had a good laugh watching this.

Go Charley Hustle! Dude is from my city Saskatoon, and he’s a cool guy.

He was unlucky V-F! Next time Mr. Hustle!

I've had Alva Noto, Xerrox vol.3 on repeat for a lot of this year. Other than a lot, a lot of Lee Gamble, TCF, J.G. Biberkopf, Nils Frahm, Wanda Group.

Cant wait for to hear the new OPN album (and see the show at Berghain in mid November)

Alva Noto heard of them (pun intended)

WoW! You’re venturing to Germany. I’ve never been but heard great things about it from a few different people. My friend has played there with his Livity Sound friends, have you heard of them? I’ll check out your suggestions, thanks!

I’m listening to the cool live stream from the super sauve Hotel Costes and have been constantly since unearthing this treasure!
