What's the build quality of the Teenage Engineering OP-1 soft case?

It seems a little expensive for an item that’s probably cranked out in a sweat shop. What’s your opinion? Is it sturdy?

It’s top notch. Must have accessory for any Op1 owner

Excellent. Really good case.

I have one … its worth the money.

Protects the op-1 very very well

I’ve haul mine around in the soft case all the time. All good.

Somebody is making a huge profit on those cases and accessories. It’s not bad, but for the 79 euro I expected even better quality…

Perfect quality

Perfect for the OP-1

I use an alternative case (UDG), cost me £15, and is a perfect fit too and is really well made.

After a few years of travel including motorcycle hard bags and not a single scratch on the op

the Traktor Kontrol hardcase? I got one of those, and it’s great as a flight case… but for general use I find it a bit too bulky. I bought a $3 neoprene pencil case at my local supermarket that does the trick. Plus it’s super cute enough that nobody would suspect it contains a $1300 synth:

I have the soft case and two backpacks by the same company. Both backpacks broke after a year as the seams gave up but somehow the soft case seems to be somewhat better quality. I wouldn’t call it top notch anyways. It does protect the Op-1 very well AND is light enough + looks nice :).

That's a fair point. For about house use I use a soft case made by @Vince_Noir which is awesome.

The beauty of the OP-1 case is that it has been very precisely fitted to the device and the protection has been well thought through.

I have one large pocket and two small ones. The large pocket is great for carrying the USB cable and aerial. One small pocket carries the earbuds and the other carries the Daren Nager 4:1 mixer/distributor.

If it’s worth protecting: it’s worth protecting properly.

and with the unit portables bags it’s great! It protects very well the op-1, and the bag fits every other need

true. I would like something with additional pockets, but whenever I take the OP-1 somewhere it’s always within another bag, so it’s got the double protection and I can take cables/accessories in other pockets of the larger encompassing bag. Maybe if the pencil case and/or UDG case mysteriously disintegrate I’ll go for the official case though

The UDG case has room for a little pouch inside the hard case in addition to the OP1, I would go so far as to say as it is better than the official case as it is a harder shell.

I have the soft case, it’s been perfect.

I bought a case from Bowoo for a little more, handmade and great quality ! bowoo

There is also an orange and white version, but I purchased the brown.

I’m also a fan of the ‘official’ Unit Portables case. Only complaint: the snaps on the bottom (for attaching to another bag) result in a case that is prone to sliding off a table if one isn’t careful in setting it down.
