Wich small/portable soundcard ?

Hi There,

After 6 months trying to masterize my OP1, I think I've finally found a workflow that suit me :) !

Most of the time, I use the OP out of my studio, record stuff to tape, record the tape's tracks through soundcard when in the studio, add some more elements with different hardware, and then arrange everything on my DAW, most of the time out of the studio.
But sometimes, when I arrange my bits, I wish I can add stuff from the OP.

So I thought about a small/portable audio interface, something like an iRig or Line 6 Sonic Port.

What do you recommand that is small, with two (or a stereo) inputs and a good conversion quality ?

I got a Line 6 last week and am just figuring it out. Very pleased so far.

I got a Roland duo capture ex:
Two ins, two outs plus phone output, iOS compatible and it works on battery too.

Well, I guess the soundcard I'm looking for doesn't exist yet :(

My dreaming interface would be the Apogee Jam with a stereo in, or a Line 6 Sonic Port smaller (like the non VX one) but Mac compatible. I think the Port VX is too much for me, too big, too expensive tand with a mic I'll never use.

Any Apogee Jam user here using it with an OP-1 in mono only ?

Behringer UCA202 works for me. Cheap as chips, stereo in and out and sounds good.

Oh really ? I saw this interface but I’m a bit afraid by Behringer. But as you say, because it’s pretty cheap, it might worth a try. Do you know the difference with the UCA222 ?

I like the Presonus iTwo. Here it is…

I have the uca222. I only use it with my iPhone with the “camera connection kit” from Apple. Works great for me but I can’t tell you more.

yea the behringer is nice for the price.

the cable was ridiculously long for my tastes.

audio technica atr2usb is a good/cheap/compact one too but i think its mono in, stereo out.

u could try that new roland mixer too? i forget what its called.

Ouch !
The audio technica Atr2Usb is damn cheap !
Well it’s obviously not the best AD converter on the market but it’s so ridiculously cheap I need to try it.
On the FAQ it says it can record stereo http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/accessories/de806038b48c13d7/

Does someone use this “interface” ?

Oh yeah, you’re talking about the go mixer. Well, The number of input and the built seems pretty OK for the price, but I guess it’s probably the same chips as the behringer/atr2usb/any cheap converter.

I discover an all new world of cheap soundcard on Amazon !
Did you know the existence of this kind of stuff ? : Amazon.com

24bits/96khz conversion
Ok, it’s probably not that good but I’m impressed by the specs.

i have the atr2usb. yea it does have a stereo input, but in my tests, it seems to sum to mono anyway so not really stereo.

i used to have the behringer one and a bunch of other cheapies.

they are def not the best things out there, but they are far from bad. very capable.

I have the Roland GO:Mix. Worth the money, for sure. Works with both iOS and my Mac.

I had a Behinger UCA200 (the even cheaper one) that I was using that worked well enough but no monitoring option.

The GO:Mix is the last portable audio interface/mixer I’ll ever need!

The Audio Technica one looks like this one which I ordered for 4 euros: http://www.miniinthebox.com/usb-to-audio-crystal-blue-sound-card-0-1m_p599488.html

=)

I need a bus-powered portable soundcard that works with iOS and Android and has phantom power, XLR and jack inputs. Does such thing exist?

Edit: Maybe I just need to get the GO:Mix and get one of these: https://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_pp2b.htm.

I've ordered a StarTech.com ICUSBAUDIO2D (previously linked) and I'll report back my tests here. I just hope it will not sum the inputs into one mono signal as you say @docshermsticks.

I can’t find the conversion spec, do you know it @flyingace71 ? Is it 16bits/48Khz like most of the portbale interface ?

No difference except colour.

yea i’ve got one that looks that like that too. adafruit sells them for like $5.

sounds pretty much the same as all the others i’ve tried.

plug-able makes another nice small one too in a lil different style package.

I use the Roland DUO Capture too. The pre-amps on it are great! I’ve also just bought a Roland:GO mixer. I think both are great options for you!

@rumorazzi I tried to use the DUO Capture with my iPad and iPhone but they are not operating on my current iOS. How do you do it?
