•• OP-Z TRRS Splitter I/O ••

dope! thanks for sharing and so glad u are enjoying it

i think a major advantage of this splitter is that it keeps your module bay free
(and your USB port free as well)
so u can have audio in // out + midi // cv // sync w/ the oplab
or haptic feedback w/ the subwoofer one
or whatever other modules they come up with in the future
( + usb data // audio // charging etc)
rather than having to choose the functionality of one or the other.

personally i would rather see them make modules that give the Z all new functionality
not overlapping functionality that is already there in a couple ways (TRRS, USB audio)

also the fact that a few peeps @ TE themselves have purchased one recently
makes me think that an Audio IO module is not forthcoming
but what do i know :crystal_ball:

anyway thanks again so much and have fun!!! :hamburger:

i have modified splitter that i use a little bit,

polished solder points, and put a coat of clear resin on the bottom of the unit.
i often have liquid spills and random metal objects on the jam table :headphones::beer::gear:, so now its better protected :hammer::innocent:

haha nice! so shiny :stuck_out_tongue:

TE should just hire Doc for their design teams. The people’s champion with all digits on the social pulse, makes crazy musical toys, best customer service ever. Seriously, give this king a TE job interview.

thanks so much
stay rad <#

Just ordered one! Happy I was able to grab one from this latest batch.

Wanted to know how it does with noise in and out. Hoping to ditch the ground loop isolators I’ve needed so far.

I still use my isolator, but only if USB is connected.

thanks dude! hope u enjoy :stuck_out_tongue:

the splitter does not alter, filter or affect your sound in any way
exactly what u put in is exactly what u get out

it does not add noise
but it also does not get rid of any noise that is already there for other unrelated reasons

Hi all/doc!

Got mine today but I can’t seem to get it to work. Have it all hooked up and am hearing OP-Z output through the splitter into a speaker, but am not hearing anything from the input (a PO Tonic) and pressing SCREEN+2 doesn’t seem to do anything but display the power level (no numbers light up). I am on the latest firmware. Am I missing something?

It might be some kind of input selection issue as I can’t activate the internal mic with SCREEN +1 either, although the mic light does come on when I pick it up.

yo!
i believe this has to do with the new firmware
the way that u select the input has changed slightly
since they introduced the new module track w/ all the audio input features

the module track has to be the active track and then u can select the input with SHIFT + 2
https://teenage.engineering/guides/op-z/input-selection#input-selection

oh i think i get it, you are just providing audio line in for effects for guitar or something else right?

provides a safe and effective audio input for everything
any type of input source from mic to instrument to line level and everything in between.
sampling, effects, live tape track, new module I/O track w/ all those goodies
external audio monitoring, mixing, passing ext audio to USB audio etc etc etc
everything that the Z can do to manipulate & process external audio

this opens ALL those doors and prolly more

I use mine to put the OP-Z in the FX (CUE) loop of an Octatrack. Wild stuff.

that indeed sounds like a lot of fun :stuck_out_tongue:
