I'm an avid iPad user, and what you describe should, to me, sound like a dream come true. But somehow, it sounds like innocence lost.
I’d love if you could say connect the PO-12 and OP-1 to the OPlab and there was some secret handshake that made the work together in s special way or something, but I’m happy with OPlab as an interface for my iPad and OP-1.
I am not happy with the way Oplab is at the moment…
I think it is broken, or unfinished, and it needs their attention badly!
i hope they find sime time between designing new products, to finish a product they sell tgat simpky does not do what it is supposed to do…
Something I thought of that would be a nice new product from TE.
We all know that the OP-1 has restrictions of processor and memory etc.
Well, imagine of TE brought out software on say the iPad and made a dock that both the OP-1 and the iPad plugged into ... the App on the iPad brought a whole new load of synths and machines into the mix, all with the same colour-coded knobs on-screen that allowed the OP-1 to be the hands-on controller still for everything.
OR you connect the ipad to the OP-1 with an audio cable, just saying
“but I’m happy with OPlab as an interface for my iPad and OP-1.”
Please elaborate. I have asked this before but nobody responded. I hear people complain about the lack of an OPlab update and still not doing everything it was marketed for. I too use ios heavily for music. I currently use a powered USB for syncing both ipads and an i/o dock for sound input on one only one ipad. So would i benefit from an OPLab if i don’t have any hard synths or modulars? Thanks @virtual_flannel

Yup all those things are true, it really needs an upgrade, especially the Midi out bug needs to be fixed. I don’t think it necessarily does anything you can’t already do the way it is right now.
the last Oplab firmware update is from 2012, and I was told a year ago that a fix was in the “upcoming revision” whenever that’s supposed to be. Basically if you plug something into the MIDI In DIN, the Out DIN stops working.
I had a crazy dream that I saw a sneak peak of one of the developers computer screens and on the bottom of the screen was 3 new screenshots of the op-1, wavetable synth, vocoder fx and the 3rd I couldnt quite see…but it looked good! Hope it’s true!
And all the bugs fixed and more midi improvements.
Plus more than 1 modulation source, like 2 - 4 LFOS per synth
3 weeks to go!
I’m so exited for this new thing/NAMM!!! Here’s a few more brief guesses from the flyer:
First, the orange mixer lookalike thing looks the same as the mixer symbol on the OP1, part from there is five lines instead of four… Could it be an OP1 os-update with new features in the mix section?
Secondly, the three orange dots looks similar to the 6th button on the OP1 which is one of the tape tricks effects. Could it hint about new effects in the new OS?
And last, the blue propeller, could it hint about the final version of Choplifter game?
Based on my guesses I definitely think that we are going to see a new OS update for the OP1 together with the release of PO-12!
Did anyone click on the picture and see the other symbols?
The square wave is interesting, wasn’t that the propellor?
the synth symbol suggests a new synth engine?
The man is maybe a game?
The dots might be a new sequencer or saving?
The bubble blower is still there…
The star/asterisk is maybe saving presets sequencers?
Who knows… But it better be a. Op-1 update!!!
With bug fixes AND new additions:)
As a sound module for percussive and glitch drums are the PO-12 amazing. Probably they make some sort of case in typical TE style (video game inspired in pocket size). Maybe they release a few of them with different cases.
I hope they release the PO-12 with som sort av screen and set tempo. An os update is just a bonus (even though all speculations says that their will be one.)
