All very good suggestions!
One good idea for next firmware update would be a something like new step component which would make OP-Z sequencer basically as a euclidean sequencer. Euclidean sequencer divides a number of beat subdivisions over a time interval and place MIDI notes as evenly as possible into that sequence.
As we can already adjust step count from 1 to 16, we are basically halfway there. We are just missing a option to generate a number of notes that would be evenly spaced onto the sequence. Considering we already have 24 ticks per step resolution, which is more then enough for this, we are more then halfway there actually.
For example if we want to have 7 steps on 12 step bar in a euclidean way, we could adjust a step count to 12 first (that is already a working feature), and what we are missing is the new function that would allow us to select how many number of triggered steps we want to generate in our bar, evenly spaced throughout.
As competitor products gain a lot of attention because of that feature, I donât see why we wouldnât implement it in OP-Z since there is always more then half work done, and it would be a superb new step component.
For looping crossfades on user samples the PCM Sampler Synth even has the blue dial unassigned on the main parameter page.
Could be used for crossfade amount.
I want to like the Sampler Synth, but the looping is quite dubious.
i would love to see the dial used for timestretching algorithms
Hey Teenage Engineering, please add the ability to choose which tracks the Tape track applies to, in the same manner that you can choose which tracks the Master track transposes.
From the manual, regarding the Master track:
âto choose which tracks to be included press and hold shift and press the different track buttons. to include a track make sure its track led is lit.â
This would be great to have for the Tape track too.
EDIT: Never mind, this is already in. Not listed in the manual, but I just checked to see if it was in, thinking it makes too much sense to not be in. And yes itâs there. Still learning this little machine!
I was about to say lol
How do you lock mixer screen?
triple press
I have suggestion for TE. Well, two actually. 1. If a customer says something doesnât work and has given you all the pertinent details, donât respond with a generic link to an app that was updated 2 months before this. 2. Donât fill up my $599 device with projects in 9 out of the 10 available spaces for projects. Why in the world would they do that if the device already has limited storage? I could see maybe 3 or 4 but NINE?!!? Geez.
Theyâve spent your money mate. On Lingonberries and pickled herring.
And added to the Lamborghini fund.
I have no idea if this would even be possible, but I would love to see a module that expanded the sampling space for both the amount of samples the OP-Z could hold, and also the amount of time each sample engine could hold at once.
So more than 24mb of user samples on the OP-Z at once, and more than 6/12 seconds for each slot on the two sample engines.
Again, not even sure that would be possible with how the module add-ons work, but would be a great addition if possible.
Perhaps more importantly, or in addition to: some way of file management. Similar to the system we already do use with sound plugs (you have a âglobalâ list of plugs available and get to pick what you load into the device) but you are able to have a different configuration or sound plugs per project, and a way of storing user samples on the device with that âglobalâ pool.
Then if they added a memory expansion module, that would allow you to expand that global pool.
As I already mentioned, they donât need to add a memory expansion because the internal Flash has 1GBâŚ
Did not know that. Seems like they could maybe boost the 24mb limit on user samples without a module.
A vocoder effect would be soooo sweet! You add it to one of the FX slots and use the sequencing track to mapp out chords and stuff. Then you route the microphone line through the FX track and start singing like a robot. That would be truly epic!
indeed it is!
the raspberry pi image Iâve programmed for USB midi sync and Organelle knockoff can be started with one or more pure data patches and one Iâve been recently using is the Vocoder from Critter and Guitari which makes it possible to route the mic of the Z thru the patch and back to the Output or sample engine of the Z!
powerful Iâd say
Great Idea!
Agreed on this! I wasnât sure if I was just loading them wrong, but loading all images at once would be a lot easier.
