TX-6 mixer

Nope, had no issues at all. Prob not a good idea to keep spamming everyone though.

I am asking questions…not spamming what do you mean

Well you kind of are spamming - you are posting the same message multiple times to different people.
You only need to post once and everyone will see your message.
I notice you posted the same question specifically to me in response to one of my postings but if you had read you would have seen that I dont have a TX-6. It was actually a colleague that had one.
The problem he had was something to do with the firmware and TE supported sorted it out. He didnt have to send it back.

@scott.manka’s suggestion is pretty sound but if the screen still won’t turn on after an update it sounds like it might have to go back. I would contact TE support in any case. It sounds like they are pretty on it!

I just got my TX-6 Field bag in today and it fits the mixer just fine, have you tried again recently? I did notice the straps on the back of the bag could possibly be velcro’d too tight and that could prevent the mixer from sliding all the way in, just a tip.

thanks for the message! i tried a total of 4 different times, even filming it and exchanging measurements with TE customer support. it seems that the bag i got was a defect from the factory somehow! so i returned it and didn’t get another in exchange. but that’s good to know about the velcro straps on the back.

Understood! Not a premium case by any measure, but I will get plenty of use out of it for when I throw it in my bag and I won’t have to be too concerned with scratches, dents, or bending the EQ knobs. At the very least someone else can come across my comment and see your issue was a one off! Glad you got to get a refund though!

yeah for sure- i got a couple of cases that i’m going to try for my tx-6. i’m on a trip right now, picked up a few options (mostly point and shoot digital camera cases that seem to have the exact measurements needed, one of them is hard sided). i’ll put some pictures here once i get back home and can try them out with my mixer.

I’d buy this instantly if it could record multi track inputs to usb stick, or some currently hidden internal storage.

I truthfully don’t know how TE could implement a strong and functional recording option in the TX-6. I think giving the option to connect a single cable to an iOS device makes an iOS/TX-6 combo much more powerful than something built in, but that’s just me.

i’m curious

why do you think it would be hard to implement?

I really dislike iPhones and prefer things to work without plugging in lots of stuff, without unnecessary cables and mess. That’s the joy of op1, opz, po etc.

Also what if I want to use my phone occasionally while recording a long session for archive?

I got a couple of point and shoot digital camera cases for $5 each. One is hard sided, super happy with it until there’s a more official hard case (decksaver, etc.).

Anyone there w/ moderator privileges want to start a TX-6 category?

Maybe not high in difficulty, I suppose I misspoke; I don’t think TE have ever just added small functionality without a ton of thought and making it unique, only exception I can think of is USB audio on the OP-1, but that may have taken a while due to hardware restraints and difficulties with balancing effort for developers to spend on a 10 year old device vs working on new things.

I think it would be easy to implement a simple (6 minutes maybe?) recording option, but because it has 12 track functionality with iOS and computers, and that option will offer greater flexibility and fidelity, I feel like an internal recording option won’t come soon. But that’s just me speaking as someone who has no connections nor idea what TE is doing or what the market wants.

I’m personally extremely happy with the TX-6 as it is, but I am also expecting some great future updates, especially when used in conjunction with the OP-1 Field, the OP-Z, and future ā€˜Field’ products.

I’ve just run into a curious thing with the TX-6.
I don’t recall this happening before but I’m getting very low volume pass through from OP-1 and OP-Z (it’s worse with the OP-1) when the Pan on the TX-6 is set to center (50) the second I start to divert from center in either direction the volume drastically increases to where I would expect it to be.

It also seemed to help if I panned the track on the op-1 itself.

I initially thought this was some kind of phase issue? But I can’t seem to figure it out at all.

Any ideas? What am I doing wrong?

You could try a splitter and only send the left or right signal, that’d help rule out if it is a phase issue or possibly something else.

yeah ok plot twist. I don’t actually know if this is a TX-6 issue at all.
I’m not even sure it’s an issue with any hardware or I’m just confused, but now two things are happening.

  1. OP-1 Specific issue: the volume output from OP-1 to TX-6 is drastically quieter when on the synth page, but when I go to the Tape or Mixer pages, it’s louder. This led me to believe that when on the synth page, the track info wasn’t applied yet (because when I go to Tape or Mixer it knows the track, the track volume is up, and it’s one notch panned to the right) BUT that can’t be the case because the master FX when applied is applied to the sound even when it’s quieter on the synth page… Does that make sense?

  2. TX-6 Issue: when apply TX-6 FX and/or panning to this Centered, low volume input from the OP-1 or OP-Z, the volume is boosted significantly.

strangely enough with this low volume business, it’s driving the input to clipping, so the volume must be there, does that mean it’s gotta be phasing? That doesn’t explain the OP-1 issue of volume on different pages though…

@docshermsticks I need you, what do you think this could be?

i dont have the TX6 so not sure how much help i will be
but i’ll try.

is this only when u plug the OP1 into the TX6?
like this doesn’t happen in any other scenario or plugged into other gear?
its strange bc i feel like the OP1 always sounds louder on the drum // synth pages
(or atleast used to, i think they fixed this awhile back tho)
but lower on the tape // mixer pages b/c of hte orange knob level on the tape
maybe check your EQ? compression drive settings? def strange
if all else fails maybe try a factory reset? sometimes the reset solves weird issues that pile up over time. i know it has saved me many headscratching times. i do the reset fairly regularly now and have had little to no issues w/ my OP.
if its only when plugged into the TX6, can u reset the TX6?
funny tho u’d think they would play well together since they are both TE

maybe its a cable thing?
what type of cables r u using for input and output? TRS? TS? something else?
maybe try some different cables?
is there some type of mono monitoring mode on the TX6 maybe that is collapsing everything?

low volume could be phasing cancellation, could be some type of impedance or load issue too.
could be a lot of things tbh, maybe some setting on the TX… is there a guitar or mic or input type setting for the inputs? outputs? maybe even just a software bug that u can’t fix yourself?

trial and error. try to isolate the issue as much as possible, and eliminate all variables.
sometimes thats the best way to suss things out.
have u sent this to TE? couldn’t hurt if u have exhausted all your options.

wish they had teleporters i could just pop out of a dust cloud over to u and we could suss it out together haha. troubleshooting over messaging can be tough sometimes.

wish i could be more helpful
hope u figure it out dude :stuck_out_tongue:
